The Coast2Coast Rx Card is a free discount card that allows consumers to access immediate discounts on prescription drugs as well as dental, vision, veterinary and hearing services. In Mobile County – where the card is endorsed by the county commission and ACCA – total savings for citizens have topped $10 million. 2. 2016 ACCA Wall Calendars Coming Soon

ACCA’s annual wall calendar is a popular resource, featuring key dates of Association events and education courses in addition to helpful reminders throughout the year. The 2016 edition is ready, and each county will receive a bundle of calendars at the ACCA Legislative Conference next week. Each county is encouraged to designate someone to pick up their calendars at the registration desk, and appreciation is expressed to the advertisers who support this project.

    3. There’s Still Time – Make Your Plans for the ACCA Legislative Conference

You still have opportunities to register for next week’s ACCA Legislative Conference, using either late registration online or onsite registration. The two-day meeting is Dec. 2-3 in Auburn this year. Sen. Gerald Dial and Rep. Mac McCutcheon, who are sponsoring ACCA legislation to create more resources for local roads and bridges, will both be there to speak during the opening general session, and they will also hold a news conference to highlight the state’s need for a sustainable plan – and funding – for roads and bridges. This will be an outstanding opportunity for them to hear both the real-world impact in all 67 counties as well as expressions of support from throughout the state.

    4. Price Comparisons for Heavy Equipment, Road Signs & Herbicides

The County Joint Bid Program has awarded 2016 contracts for heavy equipment, road signs and herbicides and adjuvants, and a 2016 price list for new prices and renewals is available for your review. As is usually the case, there are price increases on many items, so you may find it helpful to compare the current prices with those that will go into effect on January 1. If you have any questions, please contact Chase Cobb (334-263-7594 or ccobb@alabamacounties.org).

    5. AAND Election for Statewide Board Nominees

Another significant event of next week’s Legislative Conference will occur with Alabama Association of 9-1-1 District members caucus to elect nominees for four seats on the Statewide 911 Board. The AAND election procedures have been amended to conform to 2014 changes in the law, and in order to participate in the election, districts must renew their membership no later than Monday, Nov. 30. Please see this memo from AAND President Kristi Stamnes for additional details.

Notice: The ACCA office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.
