  • Workers’ Compensation Renewals Due

    Renewal packets were mailed to members of the ACCA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund in early September for the current Fund year, which began October 1, 2014.  Included in the packet were the Participation Agreement and Information Sheet as well as the Declarations Page and Invoice.  The Participation Agreement should be signed by the Chairman and returned to the ACCA office as soon as possible, along with the completed Information Sheet.  The Declarations Page and premium contribution payment should be sent to Meadowbrook as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, please contact Henry van Arcken at 334-263-7594 or


    Alabama leading at the national level

    ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield has been elected vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of County Reinsurance Limited, Inc.  This corporation, owned by county self-funded insurance programs from throughout the country, makes low-cost reinsurance coverage available to the Association’s two self-funded programs, which use those savings to reduce premiums for Alabama counties.


    Hard Work by Policy Teams

    Tomorrow, county leaders from across the state will converge in Montgomery for a meeting of the Policy Team on Elections, with a hefty agenda looking at campaign finance laws, election procedures and ways to save county dollars. Many thanks to everyone who participated in last week’s meeting of the Policy Team on County Modernization, which examined ways both big and small to advance county administration.

    Time is growing short for counties in the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds that want to complete the Safety Incentive Discount Program this year, which can mean incentives of up to $6,000 in the liability fund and $7,500 in the workers’ comp fund. How to make sure your county qualifies? Get your required training:

    • Deputies – Below 100 training Oct. 20 in Lawrence County and Oct. 28 in Montgomery County;
    • Safety coordinators – Oct. 15 in Montgomery County and Oct. 22 in Marengo County;
    • Public officials/Administrative staff – Best practices in human resources, Oct 16. in Montgomery County and Oct. 23 in Marengo County.
