  • 1. ACCA Proposed By-law Amendments The Association will hold a Business Session at the Legislative Conference on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Conference Center.  One of the items on the agenda for the business session is the approval of proposed changes to the ACCA by-laws.  You can download a memo from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield explaining the proposed changes and a copy of the proposed amendments.  This packet of information was mailed to Commission Chairs Friday.

    2. Joint Bid Program starts new year in 2015 The Joint Bid Program embarks on a new contract year beginning in January. ACCA is especially grateful to the county engineers who work hard every year to make the program a success. This Fall the bids for 2015 have been opened, reviewed and awarded – which means counties all over the state will not be forced to conduct their own bids for road equipment during the coming year.  Very soon Commission Chairs and Engineers will receive a price comparison from our office. Full purchasing info on the 2015 items will be available online before the end of the day on Monday, Jan. 5.

    3. Got New Commissioners? If your county has newly elected commissioners, please be sure to send Brandy Perry the contact information as soon as possible.  We would like to have a phone number, address and an email for your newly elected officials.  In addition, if you have a Chairman appointment that changed following the election, please let Brandy know that too.

    4. CROAA Board votes to become part of the CGEI Program The CROAA Board of Directors recently voted to move administration of the CROAA Education and Certification Program to the ACCA’s County Government Education Institute (CGEI) beginning in 2015. Currently ACCA administers the education program for Engineers, Administrators and AAND.  We are happy to have CROAA as part of the CGEI family!  Our goal is to have classes ready for early 2015 so we are wasting no time.  On Friday of this week the CROAA Education Committee will be meeting with ACCA staff to begin working on the transition.

    5. District Meetings and County Days are set! The 2015 Legislative Session will be here before we know it and we are preparing to hit the ground running.  The schedule has been set for the District Meetings and County Days.

The District Meetings will begin in January.  All meetings are scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. and you can register for the meeting closest to you here.

County Days are an important part of our effort to ensure the Alabama Legislature is constantly hearing “67 Counties, One Voice”.  Each county has been assigned one day to come to Montgomery.  All county commissioners and all key staff are encouraged to participate and join us at the Statehouse on your day.
