    Health insurance outlook for 2013-14
    The Advisory Committee to the Local Government Health Insurance Program has its annual meeting tomorrow with the primarily agenda item the review of the fund’s financial condition and the recommendation of rates for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1. The Association is represented on the committee by Lee County Administrator Roger Rendleman and Crenshaw County Commissioner Charlie Sankey.

    Insurance cost estimates to be announced at ACCA Convention
    Trustees for the ACCA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund met last week, and trustees for the ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund will meet Wednesday to set member contributions for the upcoming year. Fund members will want to attend the membership meeting at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 during the ACCA Annual Convention. During that session, they will receive their estimated member contributions.     FAQ about safety training at the ACCA Convention

    There have been a number of questions from members of the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds about the safety training Aug. 21 at the ACCA Annual Convention. Here are answers to some of the most frequent questions, and if you need to know more, please contact Henry van Arcken.

        1. Is the training required? The safety training is only required for fund members that want to earn the 2012-13 safety incentive discount.
        2. How many people must attend? Fund members that want to earn the 2012-13 safety incentive discount must send two separate people to training.
        3. Who should attend? The safety coordinator of record should attend the track for safety coordinators, and someone with hiring and firing authority should attend the track for public officials and administrative staff.
        4. How much does the training cost? The ACCA Self-Insurance Funds will reimburse the registration fee of $185 for the person listed on file as the safety coordinator and for one public official/administrative staff.
