    Counting on the SIDP discount?
For members of the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds, time is running out to complete the Safety Incentive Discount Program for 2012-13.  Safety verification forms, signed by the chairman, showing that your county has completed all 9 program requirements, sample policies, documentation (or minutes) of safety meetings, and certificates from required training are due no later than Dec. 31.  Also, a new safety coordinator resolution is needed if you have changed your county’s safety coordinator from the one named last year.  Have questions? Joint Bid Program starts new year in 2014
The Joint Bid Program embarks on a new contract year next month. ACCA is especially grateful to the county engineers who work hard every year to make the program a success. This Fall the bids for 2014 have been opened, reviewed and awarded – which means counties all over the state will not be forced to conduct their own bids for road equipment during the coming year. Chairmen and engineers should have already received a price comparison from John Hamm. Full purchasing info on the 2014 items will be available online before the end of the day on Monday, Jan. 6.

    Working on mental health
ACCA staff members have initiated discussions with the Alabama Department of Mental Health aimed at establishing an advisory committee of probate judges, sheriffs and county commissioners to increase communication and identify problem areas in the efficient delivery of mental health services at the local level.

    Merry Christmas!
The ACCA office will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25, in observance of Christmas and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
