    Welcome aboard

    Dale County is joining the ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund effective Wednesday, making the fund 55 county members strong. Dale is the fifth county to join the fund since 2010, along with Washington, Macon, Cherokee and Chilton.

    Disaster Relief 101 open to commissioners too

    County Government Education Institute classes are usually reserved for county employees, but the CGEI Disaster Relief 101 class, scheduled for March 21-22, is being opened up for commissioners too. Class participants will gain a good working understanding of the basics involved in preparing for and responding to disasters.

    Legislative preparations

    ACCA staff members are continuing a series of meetings with legislative leaders to finalize plans for sponsoring bills. The 2012 Regular Session begins Feb. 7.

    Recognizing local government innovation

    Auburn University Montgomery is getting ready for its annual Innovative Alabama Governments Summit, which will again feature an awards program to honor innovative government programs and digital solutions that have been implemented during the last three years. Get the details here.
