  • CGEI General Accounting course just a month away
    The deadline to register for the County Government Education Institute’s General Accounting class on Feb. 19-20 is coming up soon. Governmental accounting is highly specialized, and this class is taught be representatives from the Examiners of Public Accounts as well as long-time county administrators. (Note: Attorneys can earn CLE credit for attending.)

    NACo’s Annual Legislative Conference
    Registration is open for the NACo Legislative Conference, scheduled for March 1-5 in Washington, D.C.  Also, registration is now open for the Alabama Congressional Delegates’ Breakfast, which will be Tuesday, March 5. The deadline to register is Feb. 26.  Please note that the breakfast has moved to Tuesday this year.  No registration is required for the Alabama Delegates’ Caucus and Reception, which will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.  We hope you make plans to attend these very important legislative events.

    Alabama Jail Association training opportunity coming up soon
    The Association’s staff continues to work closely with the leadership of the Alabama Jail Association to provide quality educational opportunities for those who work in Alabama’s 67 county jails. Recently the group met at the ACCA office to work on details for its Spring Conference, scheduled for March 27-28 in Montgomery. The conference will largely focus on legal issues, especially those related to medical care. Registration information should be going out to jails soon. For more information, contact John Hamm.

    Please return the original signed 2014 ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund Declarations Page with your premium contribution payment to Belinda Bush at Meadowbrook Insurance Group as soon as possible. Be sure to make a copy of the Declarations Page for your records before mailing.  Additionally, please forward the original Longevity Bonus Resolution and Participation Agreement to Marcia Collier’s attention at the ACCA office.
