  • Budget process starts soon
    Under Alabama law, there is a [download id=”348″] for counties to follow. The process begins no later than June 15, so it’s time to get started.

    Work is in progress on logging notification bill
    There’s a new law going into effect soon that will require loggers to notify counties before using county roads, and a committee is working on a model ordinance and enforcement procedures to go with it.

    Recent legislative action that affects counties
    The final Legislative Report from the 2012 regular and special session was released by the ACCA on Friday afternoon. A large number of new acts will have a direct impact on county government. Please click here to read the entire report.

    Just days left to register for next CGEI class
    The Overview of County Government class, part of the County Government Education Institute, will be offered June 20-21. The last day to register is Wednesday.

    Energy help from ADECA
    The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs’ Energy Division offers the Local Government Energy Loan Program (LGELP), which provides zero interest loans to local governments for energy-efficient retrofits to buildings, street and traffic lights, sports field lighting and waste water treatment plants.
