  • CGEI elective class on general management coming up next month
Wednesday, April 2, is the deadline to register for the County Government Education Institute’s General Management Course, offered April 16-17 in Prattville. This class is designed to provide supervisory personnel with valuable skills to improve their effectiveness as managers of county government departments. This is an elective for participants seeking certification from CGEI, but it is also an excellent training opportunity for those seeking continuing education credits to maintain their certification.

More free training for insurance fund members

Law enforcement officers can earn six (6) CEUs and receive a certificate of completion for attending this important driving class. Information about additional dates and locations will be shared as it becomes available. Registration info and details. The deadline to register is April 1.

Governor’s Preparedness Conference just a week away
The State of Alabama Governor’s Preparedness Conference will begin just a week from today at the Renaissance Montgomery. Need discounts?
If your county is not a participant in the Coast2Coast Rx Discount Drug Card Program, the ACCA Board of Directors encourages you to strongly consider making this outstanding benefit available to your residents. By simply adopting a resolution supporting the program, cards will be made available for your citizens, entitling them to substantial discounts on their prescription drug and other medical services. On www.alabamacounties.org, use the red button that says “prescription drug discount” on the left side of the homepage to learn more. The Coast2Coast representative for Alabama is Ron Howard at 334-657-5896, or you can call Marcia Collier at ACCA (334-263-7594) for more info.

    Learning opportunities this week
County elected officials and employees will definitely be hitting the books this week. The Alabama Jail Association’s Spring Conference is Wednesday-Friday in Montgomery, and commissioners from all over the state will converge on Prattville on Thursday and Friday for the Alabama Local Government Training Institute’s course, Chairing the County Commission. The faculty for that course will include ACCA President Debbie Wood from Chambers County.
