  • Saving paper on weekly legislative reports
Starting this week, ACCA will no longer automatically fax copies of the weekly legislative report. Most people receive it by email, and we’ve had a number of requests to withdraw from the fax list. However, if you still prefer to receive the Weekly Report by fax, please contact Brandy Perry (334-263-7594).

Two retired county engineers appointed by Bentley
Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed two retired county engineers – Henry Hawkins (Chambers) and Herb Huner (Pike) – to the ATRIP Advisory Committee. The committee is responsible for reviewing and prioritizing projects to be funded through the grant program, with final project selections made by the governor.

County Day @ the Legislature hotel deadline looms
There’s just one week left to reserve a room at the group rate for County Day, scheduled for May 2-3. Rooms are still available at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel in downtown Montgomery for $132. You can make reservations by calling 1-877-901-6632 and asking for the Association of County Commissions of Alabama rate or by clicking here.

Transportation bill extension likely in Congress
It now appears likely that Congress this week will extend the current transportation bill for another 90 days, carrying it through June 30. A new transportation bill had recently cleared the Senate, but a key leader says the House will develop its own proposal.

    ATRIP’s first deadline is Friday
Just a reminder that all projects submitted during this first cycle on March 30 must be far enough along through the development process that they can be “let to contract” by ALDOT on Dec. 3, 2012.
