    The March/April issue of “County Commission” magazine is on its way to you, featuring innovation in Chilton County, an interview with ACCA Second Vice President Ray Long, advice on emergency response during winter weather and more.

    Free training for insurance fund members
    ACCA Director of Insurance Services, Henry van Arcken, will be in Monroeville on Wednesday to oversee the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds’ basic defensive driving course for deputies in Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Escambia, Lowndes, Marengo, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox counties. Participation in this pilot region will determine whether the training will be offered to other areas of the state.

    County Days @ the Legislature
    There are only a two more County Days left in this Legislative session. If your county hasn’t been able to participate due to weather or conflicting schedules, we want to encourage you to come either March 11 or 18. Just let Brandy Perry (334-263-7594) know which day you would like to come and how many from your county will attend. Please find below a revised schedule of events for County Day.

    SCHEDULE
    10 a.m.—Briefing at the Alabama State House and Lobbying
    11:30 p.m.—Lunch at the ACCA Office Building
    1:00 p.m.—Lobbying at the Alabama State House

     

    ACEA teams up with PALS
    The 2014 Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) annual “Don’t Drop it on Alabama” Spring Cleanup will be April 19-26. PALS will provide trash bags and T-shirts to participating counties, and ACEA is working with PALS on distribution of the trash bags. Division representatives from the ACEA board are coordinating bag pickup for their counties. Questions? Contact Sallie Gowan.
