  • Dear Governor Bentley
On Friday the ACCA staff asked commission chairs and administrators to send letters to Gov. Robert Bentley to encourage him to sign the final ACCA bill of the session.  The legislation, which would increase county revenue from the existing deed and recording tax, will be pocket vetoed unless Bentley signs the bill this week. Final report coming
The ACCA staff is working on a comprehensive final report from the 2012 regular session. The report will be distributed by email and posted on online next week. In the meantime, watch your inbox for any updates in the coming days.

    “Handbook for Safety Coordinators
The new “Handbook for Safety Coordinators” was distributed during the county administrators’ annual conference last week.  Coordinators who were not able to attend the conference should contact Henry van Arcken for a copy of the handbook.

    Driving training
Defensive driving training for sheriff’s employees is now available through Meadowbrook Risk Control. Please contact John Hamm for more information.

    For our newest commissioners
The “Handbook for Alabama County Commissioners” is being revised by the Alabama Law Institute, and copies of the new 11th edition will be distributed to all new commissioners at orientation in December.
