  • Have you scheduled your health screening?
Medical personnel from the Local Government Health Insurance Program are conducting wellness screenings for ACCA staff members today. The screenings promote improved health and qualify the Association for the “preferred” rate. If your county has not scheduled a screening for employees, please do so this summer.

    ATRIP announcements
Announcements of road and bridge projects selected for funding through the first phase of the ATRIP program are expected later this month. Counties are encouraged to continue work on plans for the second application deadline, which is set for September. Additional details are available online.

    Helping with drug costs
Counties that have not yet reviewed the Coast-to-Coast prescription drug card program are encouraged to do so. The Association is partnering with the program’s parent company, WellDyne, to offer counties exclusive benefits. Contact Sonny Brasfield for more information.

    Personnel Administration class
Time is growing short for county employees to register for the next County Government Education Institute class. Personnel Administration is offered May 30-31 in Prattville, and the last day to register for the course is May 16.

    Disaster sales tax holiday
The bill providing for a tax-free weekend for the purchase of items related to disaster preparedness and recovery has been signed into law and will be effective in July. In future years, the holiday will be in February.  Counties have the option of participating in the holiday, but must make their election by mid-June. Please watch the Association’s post-session Legislative Report for details on how your county may elect to participate in the sales tax weekend in July.
