  • ACCA District Meetings for 2013
ACCA is going on the road in the last half of January for the district meetings in preparation for the 2013 Regular Session of the Alabama Legislature. Check this flyer for the full schedule, and register online through the events page.

Insurance discount program continues for insurance fund members
The first year of the Safety Incentive Discount Program for members of ACCA’s insurance funds is expected to save counties thousands of dollars. Members will want to check out the 2012-13 Safety Incentive Discount Program, which is posted online. (You will need your member password to access this page.) The biggest changes are additional details about required training and when it will be offered. Questions? Contact Henry van Arcken.

Joint Bid Program update on debris services
Many of the documents related to using the debris removal contracts that were let through the ACCA Joint Bid Program have been posted online. Included is the notice to proceed, which is posted as a Word document so that counties can customize it with their information.

    Jail training roundup
Counties that are implementing the legal-based guidelines in their jails are encouraged to attend a free training session this month provided by ACCA. The schedule shows six opportunities around the state, and there’s still room for additional students in tomorrow’s class in Baldwin County. Also, members of the ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund who attended training at the Alabama Jail Association conference last month can find electronic copies of handouts online. (You will need your member password to access this page.) Questions? Contact John Hamm.

    Batemon hits campaign trail
St. Clair County Commission Chairman Stan Batemon, who is Alabama’s candidate for 2nd vice president of NACo, hit the campaign trail last week. Escambia County Commissioner Larry White and Mary Pons from ACCA joined him in St. Landry Parish, La., for the NACo Rural Action Caucus Retreat. He invites all his county friends across Alabama to “like” the campaign’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Batemon4NACo.
