  • Welcome our new commissioners to Hot 5
To the 92 new faces joining the ranks of county commissioners last week, everyone at ACCA would like to say “Welcome aboard!” Every Monday morning you will get this email newsletter, packed with five “news you can use” items. Each item is designed to be a quick read that will help you serve your county.

Two new faces join ACCA board of directors
ACCA President Ricky Harcrow has filled two board vacancies created by the elections. Madison County Commissioner Roger Jones succeeds Mike Gillespie, also of Madison County, and Cleburne County Probate Judge and Chairman Ryan Robertson succeeds John Carter of Talladega. Thanks are due to the outgoing board members for their long service, and thanks go out to the new board members for stepping up to help lead the Association.

2013 ACCA publications on the way
Make sure you are registered for the 2012 ACCA Legislative Conference (prices go up on Thursday), because the 2013 calendars featuring a full listing of ACCA events will be distributed there. Also, many thanks to everyone who has been so helpful in gathering information and taking photos for the 2013 directory. Proofs will go out soon for review, and directories will be distributed at the district meetings in January.

    ATRIP local match
Counties interested in help securing their local match for ATRIP projects with the RAMP assistance will want to attend ACCA Legislative Conference on Dec. 5 and 6. There is a 45-minute question-and-answer session with the ALDOT director scheduled for midday on Thursday, Dec. 6.

    Workers’ compensation payroll audits
There are just a few days left for members of the workers’ compensation fund to submit their audit information by the Dec. 1 deadline. If your county/entity has not responded to Don Thomason’s letter requesting payroll audit information, please do so as soon as possible. Responses must be received by Dec. 1. Members who do not respond will be billed for an additional payment equal to a quarter of your annual contribution. Questions? Contact Henry van Arcken.
