    Happy Labor Day!
The ACCA office is closed today, and it will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

    Safety efforts pay off
Members of the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds – both workers’ comp and liabililty — have been taking big steps to improve safety, and their hard work is paying off. Together, the two funds stand to return $4 million to members – in the form of refunds, safety incentive discounts and longevity bonuses – while at the same time reducing rates by 5 percent!

    Driving simulator returns
Speaking of counties focusing on safety, the driving simulator is back, courtesy of the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds. The simulator will be in Colbert County starting Sept. 16 to train county employees from northwest Alabama. The deadline to sign up for this FREE training is Wednesday, and you can contact Marcia Collier to register. For other questions, contact Henry van Arcken or John Hamm

    Are you running in 2014?
If you are a candidate for election in the 2014 cycle, don’t forget Wednesday’s campaign finance filing deadline. Requirements have changed significantly, and this news release from Secretary of State Jim Bennett highlights some of the new do’s and don’ts.
