    ACCA Policy Teams kick off
This week many of ACCA’s new Policy Teams will kick off their work with orientation conference calls. There’s still room for more people to serve, so please call Mary Pons at 334-263-7594 if you are interested.

    Affordable Care Act deadlines
Counties face two upcoming deadlines relating to the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), and Jamie Kidd from Webb & Eley wrote this summary to help make sure counties understand their responsibilities.

    Workers’ compensation audits
It’s payroll audit time again for members of ACCA’s  Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund. An initial letter from Sonny Brasfield was mailed Sept. 25 to explain the process, and the audit packets will be mailed by auditor Don Thomason later today.

    ACCA expresses appreciation
As many of you know, Muffy Metts, ACCA’s longtime financial manager, is making her preparations for retirement soon. ACCA will honor Muffy for her loyal service with a reception this week. Her successor Lauren Westbrook is already on board and Muffy has been working to train her thoroughly. Thank you, Muffy, for all that you do and have done so faithfully for Alabama counties!
