PLUS… HOT TIP: Using Comparative Data on Alabama Counties

    PLUS… Key Dates This Week

    1. Insurance Updates

The deadline for SIDP Application and Documentation is Monday, Oct. 31. Please email all materials to Marcia Collier (mcollier@alabamacounties.org) by this date.

ACCA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund Audit Packets have been mailed and are due back by Tuesday, November 21. Meadowbrook’s Premium Audit Department is handling this year’s audit. Any questions, contact Ray Hodge (334-954-7260 // ernest.hodge@meadowbrook.com).

    2. Getting Ready for the Association’s 2017 Membership Directory

If it is fall, it must be time for the unified voice of county government to update its membership directory, and preparations are underway for the 2017 edition. On Friday afternoon, County Administrators should have received an email with their county’s 2016 directory pages. The Association staff has tried to identify necessary changes, and you are asked to review the pages, indicate additional changes and return them by Friday, November 18.

Since this is an election year, the deadline is scheduled so that full information can be printed for new commissioners – and a new group picture can be taken at the first commission meeting following the election. Questions? Please contact Terri Reynolds (334-263-7594 // treynolds@alabamacounties.org).

    3. Amendment 14 Protects Alabama amendment14_logo

There is an active campaign called “14 Protects Alabama” to build support for Amendment 14 on the November ballot. One of the great resources is the informative website (www.14ProtectsAL.com), which is an excellent place to refer friends and neighbors who have questions about the amendment.

Remember: By voting YES for Amendment 14, you will be voting YES to protecting our families, defending our way of life and securing our future!

And 14 Prthumbs-upotects Alabama is also live on Facebook – so please use the link below to “LIKE” the page and encourage your friends to do the same!

Commissioners, if you will be entering your second term of office next month, ACCA is looking for you! PLAN, ACCA’s Practical Leadership Action Network, is a leadership development program that emphasizes hands-on learning about successful programs in other Alabama counties, the state Legislature, Congress, as well as ACCA’s insurance funds and affiliate organizations.

As part of PLAN 2018, each participant will be mentored by a member of the PLAN 2016 class, and – with the input of their peers – will implement a “passion project” in their home county. The deadline to apply is November 21.

The Chambers County Commission welcomed a distinguished guest during last week’s meeting when Sen. Gerald Dial accepted the Outstanding Contribution to County Government award from the Association.
