    PLUS…Key Dates This Week

    1. Legislative Conference Takes Place This Week

The ACCA 2017 Legislative Conference will take place this week on Dec. 6 and 7 at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center in Florence, Ala. Attendees are in for an all-star program that will prepare them to “Become a Game MVP” for county government in 2018. If you have not yet registered for the conference or reserved a hotel room, on-site registration will be available on Dec. 6 and 7, and the ACCA staff encourages you to book with the nearby Residence Inn or Holiday Inn Express.

    2. Review the 2018 County Platform

The 2018 County Platform is complete, and we want your feedback at the Dec. 7 ACCA Business Session in Florence. The County Platform will determine the Association’s legislative course of action for the 2018 Regular Session, so review the Platform here before you cast your vote Thursday.

    3. Legislative Conference Presentations to be Accessible on ACCA website, app

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 6, speaker presentations for the ACCA 2017 Legislative Conference will be available on the ACCA website homepage and the ACCA67 mobile app (under the “2017 Legislative Conference” section).

    4. LSIF Renewal Packets Head to Your Mailbox

Membership renewal packets for the ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund Inc. (LSIF) have been mailed. The packets include a 2018-2021 Coverage Document, Declarations Page, Endorsements (if any), Participation Agreement and an invoice. The Declarations Page and Participation Agreement must be signed, dated and returned in their entirety to ACCA Insurance Services as soon as possible. LSIF premium-contributions are due Jan. 1, 2018, and will be overdue if not paid by Jan. 31. Fund members who do not receive their LSIF renewal packet by Friday, Dec. 8, should contact Marcia Collier.

    5. Remember to File Campaign Reports Electronically

REMINDER: Candidates for County Commission, Sheriff, county school boards, judgeships and all other races, excluding municipal races, must now file campaign reports electronically with the Secretary of State’s Office. The Alabama Electronic Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) grants the Secretary of State, Probate Judges and the Ethics Commission the authority to levy fines if reports are late or inaccurate, effective with the 2018 cycle. Learn how to navigate the system and file a report here.
