    3. New Debris Contracts in Effect for 2015-16

The Association has successfully concluded awarding the pre-event disaster contracts for Debris Removal and Monitoring services. In the event of a natural disaster, these contracts may be activated by all 67 counties. The new contracts were effective November 1, 2015, with the option to renew for two additional years. All contracts have been mailed to your county administrator and commission chair, but if you can also find all documents, including activation notices, at www.alabamacounties.org/joint-bid-program/debris.  Here are links to the LINK Regional Map and List of Contractors by Region. 4. Minority Issues Steering Committee’s Meeting Productive

The Association’s Minority Issues Steering Committee, led by Choctaw County Commissioner Tony Cherry, reviewed and recommended platform positions on a variety of topics last week. With primary emphasis on election legislation, prison reform and the impact of state budget cuts, the committee forwarded its recommendations to the Association’s Legislative Committee for its meeting next week.  In addition, the committee adopted a resolution encouraging Gov. Robert Bentley to fully restore the operation of the part-time drivers’ license offices closed earlier this fall.

    5. Unifying the County Voice

A new strategic vision for the Association will take even sharper focus today as the statewide strategic planning committee, known as Team 2021, concludes its review of the plan developed over the last 10 months.  The full ACCA membership will review and take action on the new five-year strategic roadmap during the Legislative Conference in Auburn next month. In the meantime, Team 2021, the staff and ACCA Board of Directors will continue to refine the plan, designed to guide the Association’s efforts at Unifying the County Voice through the year 2021.
