  • 1. Strong Leadership Continues in ACAA

    The Association of County Administrators of Alabama has chosen its new officers for 2015-2016, and enthusiasm is strong for a busy year with Steve Golsan of Autauga County as president. Clarissa Dear of Wilcox County and Donnie Mims of Montgomery County complete the slate of officers, that, together with the ACAA board and membership, is sure to carry on this organization’s faithful tradition of working to benefit all 67 counties (ONE voice!).


    2. Series Begins for NACo South Region

    With the recent federal actions on transportation funding, the timing couldn’t be better for the first NACo South Region conference call. Paul Beddoe, NACo’s deputy director of legislative affairs, accepted NACo Executive Committee member Merceria Ludgood’s invitation to join the agenda. The call is 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.     3. For Elected Officials Only

    In an emergency – whether a natural disaster or a man-made event – elected officials have unique responsibilities to their constituents in crisis. With that in mind, Gov. Robert Bentley has reserved time during the Governor’s Preparedness Conference so that he and other elected officials can meet as a group. The Elected Officials Session is Thursday, June 25, in Mobile, and you can find additional details online.


    4. ACCA Insurance Funds’ Trustees Scheduled to Meet

    The Boards of Trustees for the ACCA Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurers’ Fund and the ACCA Liability Self-Insurance Fund will meet June 17 and 18, respectively, to review the annual financial status, claims and expense analysis and current investments report for both funds. The Trustees will meet again on July 30 & August 6, respectively, to establish the premium contribution rates for the Funds’ new year, which will begin on Oct. 1, 2015, for the Workers’ Compensation Fund and Jan. 1, 2016, for the Liability Fund.  For more information contact Henry van Arcken at 334-263-7594 or
