    3. Last Call for NACo Steering Committees

County leaders in Alabama have a long track record of influencing NACo activity on issues important to our state’s 67 counties as well as counties across the U.S. If you would like to be part of continuing that tradition, this NACo Steering Committee Nomination Form must be completed and returned to ACCA no later than June 30. The form lists the 10 steering committees. Appointments will be announced in the fall. Questions? Contact Marcia Collier ( or 334-236-7594).

    4. Want to ‘Graduate’ from CGEI in August?

Each year, county professionals from throughout the state who have completed a program offered by the County Government Education Institute are honored at the ACCA Convention in August. Framed certificates are presented in front of a crowd (but no odd hats are needed). There are two more opportunities to earn credits before the ceremony, with “Legal Primer: County Roads” (CLE credit available for attorneys) and “Safety for the County Revenue Officer” both on the schedule for July 22-23. Registration deadline is July 7.

    5. Reimbursement for Local Bill Advertising

ACCA has flagged local bills from the 2015 Regular Session where the county is due reimbursement for advertising costs. The list may not be complete, and so counties are encouraged to review their local legislation independently to see if there are others meeting the criteria for reimbursement (available at the link above). Questions? Contact Chase Cobb (334-263-7594 or

Note: The ACCA office will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
