Chart of Accounts Change on ACAA Webinar Agenda

    ACCA expects that in the next few days counties will receive a memorandum from Mr. Ron Jones, head of the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts. The memo will officially notify all counties that their accounting practices must utilize the chart of accounts in the Alabama County Commission Finance Manual (2008 version) or that each county must establish a “cross-walk” process from your existing charts to the chart in the manual.

    ACCA has met with the department on this issue. We understand that many of you have systems that will warrant discussion with the department and are confident that the department will work with you on any issues that need to be addressed. More importantly, we believe this change will allow us to address many of the issues that have arisen regarding financial statements in recent years.

    We will discuss this matter fully during our upcoming webinar, County Chat with ACAA (registration opening soon), which due to scheduling conflicts will be held this month on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:30 a.m. instead of our usual Wednesday morning time.

    We encourage you to adjust your schedule so that you can participate in this 30-minute informational session and hope you will circle your calendar for all of the future administrator webinars, normally scheduled on the third Wednesday of the month from 10:30-11:00 a.m.
