    1. Hands-free Is Not Risk-free

ACCA’s insurance programs work hard to improve the safety of our county employees. Did you know that 80% of American drivers believe hands-free devices are safer than using a handheld phone? Nothing could be further from the truth. Studies have shown that hands-free devices are no safer because the brain remains distracted by the conversation. When talking on a cell phone, drivers can miss seeing up to half of what’s around them, such as traffic lights, stop signs and pedestrians. Take the Focused Driver Challenge sponsored by the National Safety Council and pledge to drive cell free. To learn more about the ways you can avoid the temptations of answering a cell phone or reading a text while driving, print this flyer, “A Habit Worth Breaking.” Questions?
