  • Advisory Committee Begins Work

    A panel of seven county officials and employees will soon begin meeting with State EMA Director Art Faulkner and his senior staff on ways to improve the delivery of services at both the state and county level. The group includes four local emergency management directors, a county engineer, county administrator and county commissioner. The members of the advisory panel, appointed by the ACCA executive director, are: Marshall County EMA Director Anita McBurnett; Calhoun County EMA Director Jonathan Gaddy; Montgomery EMA Director Calvin Brown; Perry County EMA Director DeAndrae Kimbrough; Butler County Engineer Dennis McCall; DeKalb County Administrator Matt Sharp; and Baldwin County Commissioner Skip Gruber.

    PLAN Participants Get Their Montgomery Experience

    Second-term county commissioners in PLAN (the Practical Leadership Action Network) will take on the Capital City this week with a two-day Montgomery Experience. The schedule includes committee meetings at the State House and lobbying both chambers, as well as private meetings with top staff members from the offices of Gov. Robert Bentley and House Speaker Mike Hubbard. In addition, the group will also have time with the architect of the prison reform legislation currently pending.

    Looming Budget Cuts for State EMA

    State EMA Director Art Faulkner has scheduled a conference call for this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to discuss potential budget cuts to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency and the impact that will have on local governments.  Those asked to participate in the call are all local entities that receive funding from State EMA for grant funding or disaster reimbursement.
