Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield

Last year this week, the Association staff moved from our longtime home at 100 North Jackson Street to our current offices on the 7th floor of the building just across the parking lot. It has been a most challenging year — one full of changes and remarkable accomplishments. And while it is a little early to close the books on 2019, I want to take the time to express my appreciation to our staff for their unwavering commitment to serving Alabama’s counties. From where we sit today, the future looks amazing, and we are grateful for the chance to speak, together, with One Voice.

AJTA instructors to receive training this week; CRS to manage jail training program in 2020

This week, the Association will hold a two-day training event for the jail officer instructors who will teach the 2020 Alabama Jail Training Academy (AJTA) curriculum, which is based solely on legal jail guidelines. Created in 2015, AJTA has allowed jail officers statewide the opportunity to receive basic training while improving their county’s safety efforts through the ACCA Insurance Funds’ Safety Incentive Discount Program. Due to AJTA’s relationship with the Insurance Funds, the administrative management of the successful program will shift to County Risk Services on Jan. 1, 2020.
