Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield

Today, members of the ACCA staff are returning from the Annual Conference of the National Association of Counties. It’s been nice these past several days to participate in something reminiscent of normal operations after more than 18 months in limbo. Clearly, it is time for the County Family to “press reset” and return our focus to the future while applying the lessons we’ve learned along the way. We’re excited to be your partner as, together, we plot a new course in this new world.

    ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

This week’s need-to-know information from ACCA

This Friday, July 16, is deadline for counties to participate in ACCA’s Rescue Plan support program

Is your county interested in participating in the Association’s “Investing in Alabama Counties” (IAC) program? ACCA Strategic Plan Committee entering home stretch after 9 months of work

The ACCA 2022-2027 Strategic Plan Committee will continue its important work this week as Committee members gather virtually to review and consider final adjustments to a draft plan that, once completed and approved by the full membership, will guide Association efforts over the next five years. The Committee will hold an in-person meeting at the August 93rd Convention to adopt a final proposed plan, which will then move on to the ACCA Board of Directors and the full membership for further review in the fall. From there, any Board and membership recommendations will be applied to the plan, and the revised plan will be positioned for a membership-wide vote in December. As Committee efforts draw to a close in the months ahead, members of the County Family are encouraged to share a ‘thank you’ with those on the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan Committee for their commitment to enhanced Association service to and representation of all 67 counties.

Three weeks left to select ACCA Legislative Committee representative

Attention, County Commission Members and Administrators! Less than three weeks remain to select your county’s representative for the 2021-2022 ACCA Legislative Committee and submit his/her name to the Association staff. Over the next year, Legislative Committee members will be tasked with voicing their county’s legislative needs and concerns, helping construct the 2022 County Platform and leading grassroots efforts to aid in the passage of pro-county legislation. The dedicated work of the Legislative Committee is essential to the policy success of all 67 counties, so counties should only nominate their most engaged and enthusiastic representative. Click here to learn how to easily select and notify ACCA of your county’s Legislative Committee representative by the August 1 deadline.
