Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield
Service comes in many forms. Last week county officials and employees from throughout the state traveled to Montgomery to make management decisions for the Association’s two successful self-funded insurance programs. Many times the “behind-the-scenes” work goes unnoticed and unappreciated. Thanks to all of you who make the Association’s services successful for all counties.

Printed copies of the “County Best Practices” edition arrived recently in county mailboxes, and county leaders can gain digital access on the ACCA website. County Leaders are encouraged to discuss the contents of the recent issue with fellow community leaders and officials.
Engineers will resume their monthly webinars this Thursday, June 9, at 2 p.m. This month, Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) Local Transportation Bureau Chief, Brad Lindsay P.E., will discuss changes to ALDOT’s local public agency road design policy.

Just under two months remain for County Commissions to submit their 2022-2023 ACCA Legislative Committee representative.
The work of the 67-member Legislative Committee is essential to the policy success of all Alabama county governments, so each county is encouraged to nominate its most engaged and enthusiastic representative.
ACCA bylaws require that each county submit the name of its representative following a majority vote by the commission. In the coming weeks, counties are urged to place this item on their commission meeting agenda for a vote and submit a completed form to ACCA’s Lisa Fiore by August 1.
