Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield
This week County Administrators and Engineers will gather for their annual conferences — the first without restrictions since the spring of 2019. The sessions will feature outstanding content and the opportunity for collaboration will be invaluable. The ability to learn from one another will be energizing, but simply being in the room together might just be the best part.
This week’s need-to-know information from ACCA
Engineers and Administrators will travel to South Alabama this week to participate in their annual affiliate conferences. Each group will conduct Board meetings, discuss a host of relevant issues and enjoy the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow County Family members from across the state. We look forward to welcoming Engineers on May 10 and Administrators on May 11.
Please contact ACCA’s Events and Education Team with any last-minute questions or assistance.
Each year, the Association calls on devoted members of the County Family to lead county government and our Association by serving on ACCA’s Board of Directors, and this year is no different. ACCA is calling on hard-working, dedicated County Leaders to submit their personal nomination to serve on the ACCA 2022-2023 Board of Directors.
The Board includes representatives from each of the Association’s 12 districts — but County Leaders are reminded that the ACCA Districts were readjusted this past year to reflect 2020 Census Data. The nomination form and information about the Association’s new district lines and the important work of each district’s Board representative can be accessed here. Nomination forms should be completed and emailed by August 11 to Lisa Fiore, ACCA Policy and Member Services Assistant.
The Association’s monthly webinars for Engineers and Administrators will take a pause in May due to the ACEA and ACAA Annual Conferences. The webinars will pick back up on June 9 (Engineers), and June 15 (Administrators).
Members of the ACCA Self-Insurance Funds now have through Wednesday, May 11, to electronically submit their annual renewal questionnaires for both the workers’ compensation and liability funds.’ Members can submit their completed questionnaires through the Funds’ risk management information system, Origami.
Each questionnaire submission is crucial for determining premium contributions in the following coverage year and the amount the Funds must pay for reinsurance. Please contact CRS Underwriters Ashley Watson or Melissa Morris with any questions.
