Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield

This week’s schedule includes a Friday observance of Veterans Day. There is an undeniable historic link between military and political service, a thread that is woven into the fabric of our nation’s history. On behalf of the Association, we offer special thanks to the many veterans who now serve in county government. We salute you!

    ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

This week’s need-to-know information from ACCA

October 2 North Jackson Podcast available

The October episode of ACCA’s 2 North Jackson Podcast features discussions between the Association’s Executive Director, Sonny Brasfield, and guest experts on embracing Alabama’s Stepping Up initiative in county jails, serving the public with passion and unifying the county to solve a growing problem. To listen, click here or find it in your favorite podcast app.

    District meeting schedule now available

The schedule and registration for the 2024 district meetings is now available in the “Events and Education” tab of the County Family platform or by clicking here. The district meetings help us prepare as a County Family to advocate for legislation that would be positive for counties and work against legislation that would hurt county government. During the meetings, the ACCA staff will report to you on the expectations for the 2024 Legislative Session as well as a number of other policy matters impacting your county. It is important to note that ACCA is the only voice for county government in Alabama, and the success of the Association is directly linked to the level of participation by the membership. It is therefore essential that every member of the County Family take an active role in the legislative process so that counties can speak with a strong, unified voice.

Registration continues for ACCA Legislative Conference

We are one month away from our annual Legislative Conference: will you be there? If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so through the County Family online community “Events and Education” page or by clicking here. Room information is below.
