Remarks from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield

We have officially completed the first year of Rebuild Alabama implementation. By now, each county has adopted its plan for utilizing the funding from year two; we have just completed a training program on submitting successful ATRIP-II project applications; and soon, we’ll submit the summary of construction contracts to the legislative leadership. As we look toward 2021, Rebuild Alabama provides counties with enormous opportunities, as this is just the beginning!

This week’s need-to-know information from ACCA

Next COVID-19 general webinar to take place tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Association will conduct this week’s COVID-19 general webinar tomorrow, Sept. 8, at 3 p.m. Discussion items will focus on issues related to COVID-19 federal funding, the 2020 “Payroll Tax Holiday,” the Association’s 2020-2021 legislative development process, and this year’s County Commission “organizational meetings.” For those unable to participate in the webinar, please know that a webinar recording and relevant materials will be distributed via email shortly after the webinar’s conclusion. Get to know, communicate with members of ACCA 2020-2021 Legislative Committee

September marks the annual start to the Association’s legislative development process in which the policy goals, stances and advocacy efforts of all 67 counties are established for the coming year. And as is now customary, each county will be equally represented in this process through the 67-member ACCA Legislative Committee. Please make note of, communicate with and show your gratitude to this year’s Legislative Committee members, as they fill a critical role in the advancement and protection of Alabama county government —  voicing their county’s legislative needs and concerns, constructing the 2021 County Platform and leading grassroots efforts back home. Click here to view the list of members constituting ACCA’s 2020-2021 Legislative Committee.

REMINDER: Be prepared for financial, safety aspects of November General Election

On Aug. 13, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill distributed an important letter to counties and county election officials regarding the Nov. 3 General Election and related expense reimbursement and safety measures.
