  • The following message went out to county officials and staff today:

Attached you will find a six-page question-and-answer document that provides detailed responses to the most frequent criticisms raised about the model logging notice ordinance. Though there have been efforts to undercut the model ordinance, ACCA stands firm behind it and the counties that are using it.

As an Association, we want to make sure you have the information you need to respond to claims, which – as you will see — are usually unfounded. We believe this is the professional way to react.

Many of you have weathered the ups and downs of this issue for the last several years, and it will come as no surprise to you that this document was developed in a collaborative manner with the input of many throughout county government. In particular, thanks are due to county engineers, the Association of County Engineers of Alabama’s Logging Policy Advisory Committee and the ACCA legal team.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. The office number is 334-263-7594. After hours, my cell number is 334-221-3258, or Sonny Brasfield can be reached at 334-850-7483.
